Sama is a Delhi based resource group working on issues of women’s health and rights and locates concerns of women’s health in the context of socio-historical, economic and political realities.
Sama means “equality” in Sanskrit and other Indian languages, “environment” in Hindustani, while the logo symbolizes balance and equality. These are an intrinsic part of Sama’s philosophy and vision.
Sama was registered in 1999 by a group of women with a history in feminist activism and health.
Sama’s interventions involve developing methods, discourses and interactions to enable people to realize their entitlements towards health in a more effective and sustainable way. Sama’s work revolves around action research, advocacy and material development and dissemination.
